CHARLOTTETOWN - Veteran rockers Bon Jovi are the front runners to headline an outdoor concert in Charlottetown on Labour Day weekend.
Coun. Peter McCloskey suggested Tuesday that a deal to bring Bon Jovi to the Island hinges on Canada Lands, the Crown corporation that owns Upton Farm, allowing the site to be used.
''We hope they rule in our favour,'' McCloskey said. ''We haven't heard anything yet. The clock is ticking.''
McCloskey said a contract with the band hadn't been signed and nothing can happen until Canada Lands makes a decision.
He said promoters need to know soon so ticket sales can be arranged.
Charlottetown Mayor Clifford Lee agreed a decision needs to be made now.
''It's time to get this file concluded and have an announcement made,'' Lee said.
Gordon McIvor, vice-president of Canada Lands, declined comment Tuesday.
