Canada's Anderson wins snowboard parallel giant slalom World Cup title

GUJO, Japan _ Canadian Jasey Jay Anderson won a snowboard parallel giant slalom event Sunday, beating Italy's Roland Fischnaller in the final.

Anderson won his first World Cup title of the season and moved up into eighth place in the World Cup parallel standings after receiving 1,000 points for Sunday's win.

Fellow Canadian Matthew Morrison was third while France's Mathieu Bozzetto, who leads the overall standings, finished 28th.

In the women's event, Nicolien Sauerbreij of the Netherlands took top honours after beating Julia Dujmovits of Austria in the final.

Russia's Ekatrina Tudigescheva took the bronze medal.

Sauerbreij won her third parallel event of the season and leads the standings with 6,400 points.
