Outdoors shows highlight these types of things all the time.
AMHERST - Hunters, nestled into their blinds in a field or a marsh, calling to wild geese and ducks during hunting expeditions.
The Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) Sanctioned Duck Calling and Open Goose Calling Championship will be highlighted here as part of the waterfowling weekend.
"We are pleased to host DUC's first Duck and Goose Calling Championship in Amherst," says Atlantic fundraising manager Barry Burke.
"We are looking forward to a weekend of great callers and lots of fun. We invite spectators to come over and see what the duck and goose calling championships are all about,' he added.
Divisions for callers are senior, intermediate and junior in one-man and two-man teams for both duck and goose calling.
The duck calling competition begins at 10:30 on Saturday, Sept. 8, with the winner announced Saturday evening at the DUC Dinner and Awards Banquet.
The senior one-man winner of the duck calling competition will receive a trip to Arkansas - including airfare, hotel and $350 spending money to compete in the World Duck Calling Championship Nov. 24 and 25.
The goose calling competition begins at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept, 9, with the winner announced Sunday evening. First prize for the senior one-man goose calling competition is $1,000.
