Jungle Jims United blank C.C. Riders 4-0

The Fundy Jungle Jim's United U16 Boys Soccer team opened their Highland League playoff action with a win, blanking Truro 4-0 at the Winston Street field on Tuesday evening.

AMHERST (Staff) - The Fundy Jungle Jim's United U16 Boys Soccer team opened their Highland League playoff action with a win, blanking Truro 4-0 at the Winston Street field on Tuesday evening.

Josh Kennedy opened the scoring for Fundy as he put a perfectly placed penalty shot past the Truro keeper with 10 minutes remaining in the first half.

Jungle Jim's continued the pace in the second half, scoring 3 quick goals.

Matt Blaikie picked up the momentum as he fired off two goals within 3 minutes to give the home team a 3-0 lead. Kennedy rounded out the scoring just five minutes later.

The team now travels to Stellarton on Wednesday evening to meet Pictou County United in the league semifinal.



Teen tennis tourney Aug. 24

AMHERST (Staff) - Tennis anyone?

The summer tennis program will be capped off on Friday, Aug. 24, starting at 10 a.m. with a teen recreational tennis tournament.

The event, hosted by Community and Economic Development, will be played at the Cornwall Tennis Courts open for anyone from the ages of 16 to 19.

There is no cost to participate but space is limited. To register contact the Summer Programs Office at 667-6507.



Few openings remain

for Fundy Hockey School

AMHERST (Staff) - There are only a few openings remaining for the annual Fundy Hockey School.

Sponsored by the Wandlyn and Fort Equipment, the school only has openings in Group A (ages seven to eight) while the other groups are all full.

Phantoms slo-pitch tourney

PARRSBORO (Staff) - The Fundy Phantoms Junior C Hockey Team will be hosting the Troy Roberts Memorial Co-ed Slo Pitch Tournament on Sept 1 and 2 in Parrsboro.
