AMHERST (Staff) - The David Maltby Memorial Little League Baseball Tournament is becoming more international every year.

The 42nd edition of the baseball tournament runs at the Ernie Landry Memorial and Art 'Sonny' Foster fields from Sept. 1 to 3. This year's tournament will feature the inclusion of a fourth U.S. team into the eight-team fold with Blackstone, Mass. joining Waltham, Marlboro and Midland, Mass. as participants.

Those four U.S. clubs will join the host Amherst all-stars, the Lower Sackville Acadians, Sydney and Oromocto in the three-day tournament, won last year by Marlboro in a thrilling comeback victory over Amherst.

Amherst, Sydney, Midland and Marlboro will make up the Don Chitty Division with Marlboro, Blackstone, Lower Sackville and Oromocto will play in the Roy Cormier Division.

Games begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1 and continue throughout Saturday and Sunday at both fields with the semifinals on Sunday at 3 p.m.

The consolation final is set for 10 a.m. on Labour Day, Monday, Sept. 3, at the Landry field with the championship at 2 p.m.

Tournament organizers are seeking billets for visiting players. For further information, contact Paula Streatch at 667-0540 (home) or 667-7160 (field), or Ray Coulson at 667-5577.
