Pugwash Harbourfest is back for its second annual celebration July 27 to 29.

The biggest attractions in the short history of HarbourFest will be the presence of two tall ships and two navy vessels.

The Pride of Baltimore II and Playfair tall ships will make their way into Pugwash from the Nova Scotia Tall Ships Festival in Halifax. HMCS Kingston and HMCS Glace Bay will also stop in at the harbour for public tours.

"The time prior to steam engines, or vessels driven by coal, diesel fuel, or whatever, everything was done by sail. This is a nostalgic hang-on from a period for hundreds of years when we moved around the planet by wind power," said Bill Kempt, head of water activities, in reference to the tall ships.

The Pride of Baltimore will arrive on the evening of Thursday July 26 before leaving the harbour Friday morning around 8 a.m. with 37 passengers en route to Summerside. The Playfair will be in that Sunday to take 30 people on a sunset cruise.

To sign up for the Pride of Baltimore cruise, contact Bill Church at 243-3091. For the Playfair cruise, call Kempt at 243-3456.

HarbourFest officially gets underway Friday July 27 at 8 a.m.
