PUGWASH Rain showers this morning and afternoon havent fazed hundreds as people still arrived in droves to Pugwashs annual Gathering of the Clans Canada Day festivities.

Spectators lined the streets of the small village as the Grand Street Parade made its way through around 10 a.m. Toward the end of the parade the heavens opened up and down came the rain.

Some families left immediately following the parade due to the wet conditions, but many toughed it out to stay for the late morning and early afternoon activities.

"The rain and little shower weve had may discourage some," said Cliff Hutchinson, chair of the Gatherings organizing committee. "We hope these little rain squalls will end and the sun will shine and we call whatever powers that be to bring that about."

There is a lot more to come this afternoon at the Gathering, with Eric Fresia and the Offspring at 4, Ryan McGrath & the Wooden House at 4:45, the Mark Stevens Band at 5:45, Banshee at 6:30, Matt Minglewood at 8:15, and a fireworks display at 10:15 p.m. The midway runs all afternoon and evening as well.
