TRURO - Southview Sally established a Maritime seasonal record for three-year-old pacing fillies Sunday by winning her $12,500 division of the Atlantic Sires Stakes at Truro Raceway with a mile in 1:57.1.

Walter Cheverie drove the daughter of Southview Matt-Soutview Selena to a two-and-one half length victory over Forceful Hope (Kenny Arsenault) for co-owners Elwood Lawton of Stratford and Tyler Shea of Pointe Claire Que.

It was the second win in as many starts this year for Southview Sally, who captured the Atlantic Sires Stakes championship last year.

The other A division of the stake went to another product of Elwood Lawton's standardbred nursery at Tea Hill, P.E.I. Southview Sally was a wire-to-wire winner in 1:58.4 for Brian MacPhee and owner-trainer Claude Poirier of Havre-Aux-Miasons, Que.

Southview Sally scored a two and one-quarter length victory over DWs Justice with Blackrivers Fame getting the show spot.

It was her first win of the season for the Drop Off filly after earning $43,000 last year.

There were two B divisions of the stake, both carrying a purse of $2,500.

Matter Of Moments, a daughter of Matter Of Money, won the first B division in 2:02 for Danny Romo and owner Donna Wilson of Truro while the second B division went to Cushla Macree, a daughter of Rayson Hanover, who stepped to a new record of 2:00.2 for Todd Trites and owner Heather Hathaway of Fredericton.

Dunachton Gale, Atlantic Canada's Horse Of The Year, came up with an impressive victory in the $1,700 preferred class, pacing the fastest mile of the 2007 Maritime season with a 1:54.4 win for Phil Pinkney and owners David and Mitchell Fillmore of Berwick and Jason Mullen of Weymouth. Dunachton Gale paced fractions of 27.3, 57.1, and 1:26.3 before firing home in 28.1 for the three and one-quarter length victory over P H Mike.
