The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League championship series will see a pair of Southwest skaters competing for the Canalta Cup.
The defending champion Yorkton Terriers and Melville Millionaires will meet in the SJHL Final between the Highway #10 rivals for the first time in league history.
Yorkton defeated the Humboldt Broncos in five games and the Millionaires eliminated the Battlefords North Stars in five games as well to reach the championship series.
Melville features Val Marie’s Lane Harbor. He is having a breakout playoff performance with five goals and three assists in nine playoff games. The 6’1’’, 210-pound right wing posted five goals and seven assists in 21 regular season games.
Yorkton features Swift Current’s Daylan Gatzke. The veteran left wing has two goals in nine playoff games after registering 10 goals, nine assists, and 64 penalty minutes in 45 playoff games.
Former Swift Current AAA Midget Legionnaires’ defenseman Dylan Baer also skates for the Terriers. The Regina native had four assists during the playoffs after posting 13 points and 101 penalty minutes in 52 games with the Terriers.
The winner of the best-of-seven Canalta Cup Final will advance to the Western Canada Cup in Dauphin, MB April 26 – May 4.
