Aneroid's Patrick Marleau has been named to Canada's Men's Olympic ice hockey team for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
The 34-year-old was one of 14 forwards named to the roster today. He is currently 15th in National Hockey League scoring with 41 points in 43 games with the San Jose Sharks. Marleau's 19 goals are 13th in the league and he is eighth with seven powerplay goals.
Marleau, who played much of his minor hockey in Swift Current, has 902 career points and is a veteran of 1,208 NHL games after being drafted second overall by the Sharks in 1997.
Marleau won gold with Canada at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. He also won a World Championship in 2003 and the World Cup in 2004.
Canada will open the tournament in Group B with Finland, Norway, and Austria. They will open the 12-team tournament on February 13 against Norway.
