Elks improve to 5-0 with two blowout wins
The Kyle Elks remain unbeaten in the Sask Valley Hockey League after five games on the strength of two blowout wins over the weekend.
The Elks unleashed on the Conquest Merchants Friday evening in an 11-1 win. The host Elks were led by a goal and four assists from Blake Evans and a hat trick from Danny Williams.
Thomas Williams and Dieter Gillanders each had two goals and an assist, Casey Rempel added a goal and two assists, and Justin Williams registered three helpers. Colby Schneider chipped in a goal and an assist and Joel Rogers and Steve Moreside both added two assists.
Mitch Day also scored, while Cory Hodgins and Dalton Schneider added single assists.
Jamie Langen made 26 saves as the Elks out-shot their visitors 50-27.
Saturday, the Elks were every bit as dominant as they smashed the host Loreburn 19ers 13-1 led by a nine-point performance from Justin Williams with three goals and six assists. Casey Rempel added three goals and three assists, Jeff Marshall and Bryon Sorenson both registered two goals and an assist, Danny Williams contributed a goal and three assists, and Colby Schneider scored twice.
Dalton Schneider had three assists, Gillanders and Robbie Retzleff both added two assists, and Hodgins and Moreside each had single helpers.
Langen added another win with 18 saves on 19 shots.
Kyle moved to 5-0 with 46 goals for and nine against after the weekend sweep.
The Kyle Elks will be back in action for two games next weekend. They will visit the Kenaston Blizzard (0-3-0-0) Saturday at 8 p.m. and host the Central Butte Flyers (2-3-0-1) on Sunday at 5 p.m. at the Kyle Sports Center.
