The Cumberland Blues took on the Bay Ducks Friday night at the Springhill Arena
SPRINGHILL – The Cumberland Blues battled the Bay Ducks on their home turf Friday night at the Springhill arena. The Blues scored two goals early on the first period, taking the early lead. The first goal for the Blues was scored by Liam Carr (assisted by Jessie Colburne and Jordan Mont) only 16 seconds into first period. The second goal, scored by Jessie Colburne, snuck into the net only a few seconds later.
After two early goals, it was a battle for the puck as both teams raced around the ice, hoping to score a goal, for the Ducks, to even out the score, and for the Blues, to keep up their lead.
The Ducks finally scored their first goal of the night, by Ben Richardson, with just over seven minutes left in second period.
Two minutes into the third period, JJ Allison (Bay Ducks) sored the second goal of the night for the Ducks. The winning goal of the night was scored Ryan Langille, taking the final score of the game to 6 -2 for the Bay Ducks.
“The Blues were simply outworked in the third period,” said Blues general manager Terry McManaman. “But Jessie Cox was outstanding in the net.”
McManaman said the Blues had an off night and needed to put in a better effort.
The Blues headed to St. Margarets Bay for a 7 p.m. return Contest Saturday night and will take on the Eastern Shore Mairiners next Friday at 7:30 p.m.
