AMHERST - It's all going to come down to one game, winner take all.

Colin Campbell scored a pair of goals including one with just over four minutes to play as the Yarmouth Mariners defeated the Amherst Ramblers 4-1 in Maritime Junior Hockey League Bent Division final series action.

The series shifts back to Yarmouth for Game 7 on Saturday with the winner moving into the league final against the Woodstock Slammers.

Amherst jumped out to the lead 13:47 into the first period when Brandon Street took a pass from Andrew Smith and beat Mariners' goalie Charles Grant.

Yarmouth tied the game 3:19 into the second period when Mathieu Pompeii took advantage of a defensive giveaway and fired one by Ramblers' goalie Kody Blois. Matt Tomah and Andrew Walker added assists.

Campbell scored what proved to be the winner at 13:23 of the period when he one-timed a shot by Blois from the right face-off circle. Pompeii added the lone assist.

Campbell gave the Mariners insurance late in the third when his wraparound trickled by Blois with 4:36 to play before Pompeii scored into an empty net with less than a minute to go to round out the scoring.

Grant was the story for the Mariners making several key saves with the Ramblers pressing for the equalizer late in the second period and through the early part of the third when Amherst had a powerplay.

CKDH 101.7 will have the game on Saturday night.

I may not know all the rules BUT I do possess common sense...Every goal I have seen has NOT been a slapshot..it is 1 or 2 players NEAR THE GOALIE ...YETwhen they are doing the warm up ..they practice the slapshot USELESS ..I noticed last night Yarmouth warmed up by taking shots near the goalie) SOO SLAPSHOTS DONT WORK ( unless the opposing team has no goalie lol like last nite )and part 2......when we have the puck & r going for their net we never seem to have a second player close to their net to HELP when the first guy shoots for the net...YARMOUTH DID...

Great game last night, Amherst came up against a strong goaltending performance and held off the potential goals by the Rambler forewards. For the coach to pull the goaltender with more than 2 minutes remaining is a ridiculous statement. I am sure that with JIMBO's experience he definitely knows what he is doing, if the Ramblers had of scored on their many scoring chances then the cry would be somewhat different. Let's hope that the Ramblers can pull off a win in Yarmouth tomorrow night and be ready to face Woodstock. Amherst has beaten Woodstock at home twice already and only lost both games in Woodstock in the third period after leading entering the 3rd. Not sure but refereeing seems to face Woodstock at home especially if they are trailing after two periods. (enough said), hope to see all the loyal Rambler fans and certain critics in Yarmouth tomorrow. Big crowd at the JUNGLE last night almost 1600 paid attendees. "GO RAMBLERS GO"

SuzieQ knows more than you think Jack. Many times I've seen an NHL coach pull his goalie with more than 2 mins left when down 2 to get a 6 on 4. Knit one pearl two

It isn't over yet! These boys have performed over and over again for us! We all have watched them stumble and come back to win. We as their fans need to show them our support until the bitter end and thank them for the great entertainment this year. We can win on the road! I will be cheering the boys on until the last second of the game, you should be too! Maybe we should change up who the 20 year old players are for the next game! Just a thought.

This series reminds me of the 1970's song "Slip, Sliding, Away. It was in the bag then Bottoms leaves the door open and in swoops the opposition and a game 7 in Yarmouth. Oh the shattered dreams!

Save the long bus trip to Yarmouth, the Ramblers are done like dinner. The best two teams are in the final Yarmouth and Woodstock.

Yesterday, I was taken to task for asking was the Amherst coach up to the task. Well lets look at the game results..Yarmouth get a penalty with 2:27 remaining in the 3rd and Amherst down 3-1. Most coaches from Pee Wee up would have pulled their goalie for a 6 on 4 advantage. Got to score a "quick" goal to get in range. Nope...just didn't happen. Good night Irene.
