SPRINGHILL – The season ended for the Cumberland County Blues tonight in their fourth game – and fourth defeat – in a best-of-seven series against Port Hawkesbury’s Strait Pirates. It was the first round of the NSJHL playoffs. The score was 6-2.

Coach Dave Hyatt was gracious in defeat.

“They played a great series,” he said. “The better team won – they deserved it.”

Hyatt praised the commitment of a core, dozen players.

“We need a big recruiting year,” he said of next season.

Marcel Amirault scored for the Blues in the first period at 8:10, assisted by Devon Muir. In the second period, it was Coleman who put one in the net, with assists by Geoff Burke and Shaw.

Receiving one two-minute penalty each were Liam Carr, Shaw, Cody Taker and Muir.
