AMHERST – It was a Summerside Western Capitals win in Amherst Saturday night. The Ramblers lost 4-3 after a push in the third that tied the game 3-3.
It was the second period, and a two point deficit, before the Ramblers scored their first goal, compliments of Ryan Matheson at 9:53 on a power play. The Western Capitals replied, bringing the score to 3-1 going into the third.
Amherst staged a comeback. Justin Matthews scored just a little over a minute into the period. Then Brandon MacLean put one in on a power play at 5:31. The score was tied. And there it remained until 14:25, when the PEI squad took the lead for the final time.
More than 900 spectators braved inclement weather to attend the Amherst Stadium game.
