The New Waterford Jets completed a weekend sweep in New Waterford as they defeated the Fundy Phantoms on Saturday night by a final score of 5-0 and then notched another victory on Sunday afternoon by a score of 8-6.
Scoring for the Jets on Saturday were Corson Roach with two goals, while Troy Gould, Darrell Jennex and Shane Aucoin all tallied singles.
Neil Rozee recorded the shutout victory, while Trevor Boardway took the loss. Shots on goal were 33 to 17 in favour of the Jets.
On Sunday afternoon, the Phantoms gave the Jets all they could handle before eventually falling 8-6.
Scoring for the Jets were Darrell Jennex (a recent addition from the Junior A ranks) with the hat trick, while Corson Roach had two markers. Also scoring for the Jets were Jonny MacLeod, Mitch Le Blanc and Lawrence Toney. Finding the back of the net for Fundy were Colton Tower, Andrew Rideout, Devin Nelson, Denis Robichaud, Tyler Gould and Jesse Hawkes.
Tyler MacEachern picked up the win between the pipes for the New Waterford side, while Jesse Ogden recorded the loss for Fundy. Shots on goal were 37 to 28 for the Jets.
After game one, coach Joel Stronge of the Phantoms was disappointed with the effort put forth by his team.
"I realize that it's a long trip to get to the rink, but you have to be ready to play when you get there," he said.
"Our boys just weren't ready. They gave me a much better effort on Sunday and it showed on the scoreboard, even though we lost, the energy level was much better," he added.
The Phantoms are next in action Sunday Dec 20 at 3 p.m. in Amherst when the Chester Clipper come to town.
