AMHERST - "Mental preparation is the key."
Those are the words of Amherst Rambler coach Corey Crocker as his team gets ready for one home game and two road trips in the Maritime Junior A Hockey League beginning tonight.
"For a lot of these kids, it's the first time they've had the challenge of playing three tough games in three nights," Crocker said. "And to win, you need to be mentally prepared and mentally tough."
Crocker said his players will approach each game differently.
"We'll be in different rinks facing different styles," Crocker said. "So we will make adjustments for each game."
Mental toughness is formed through pushing oneself in training.
"We had the kids run three days in a row, and we worked hard for those three days," Crocker said. "So we're ready."
Tonight, the Ramblers travel to Restigouche to take on the Tigers, then tomorrow they host the Truro Bearcats at Amherst Stadium, and on Sunday they travel to Halifax to play the Lions. The puck drops tonight and tomorrow at 7 p.m., and on Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
