AMHERST - For golf lovers, hockey lovers and just plain old lovers of a good time, the wait is over.
The third annual Terry "Moosie" Lorette Memorial Golf Classic kicks off tomorrow night with something new to the event - a hockey game at the Tim Horton's 4 Ice Centre in Moncton, running from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Then, Saturday's golf component of the classic begins at Bacon's Par 3 in Nappan, with tee times at 9 a.m., noon and 3 p.m.
Participation in this year's event is sold out, but that doesn't mean you can't go watch and have a good time
"We have 20 hockey players and 28 golf teams in this year's classic," Jordan Lorette said. "And, as always, it's nice to have spectators coming out to watch and join in on the fun."
A board raffle will be held with many items sports lovers would fight over to have on display in their trophy case.
Lorette is a sales representative for the Toronto Marlies and has acquired many cherished items.
"Some of the items we have for the raffle are a Toronto Raptors' Chris Bosh signed basketball, a Toronto Blue Jays' David Eckstein signed bat, a Toronto Maple Leafs alumni signed stick, an Toronto FC team signed jersey and a Toronto Marlies' Justin Pogge signed goal stick," Lorette said.
As with the last two years, all funds raised during the two days of fun go to support the Palliative Care Unit at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.
The Lorettes said they are grateful for all the support they've received for this great cause.
They also remind everybody that it's never too late to make a donation to the Moosie Lorette Memorial fund.
To make a donation, call Terry (Mouser) McManaman at 667-1251, Terry Lewis at 667-2823 or Doris Lorette at 660-2562.
