Squires scores four times in 5-3 clinching win
Ramblers sweep Wolverines
AMHERST - The Amherst Ramblers celebrated a 3-0-playoff sweep in their best of five series against the Halifax Wolverines after defeating them by a score of 5-2 last night at Amherst Stadium.
It was a huge night for Matthew Squires as he shoveled in 4 goals and one assist.
Andrew Oakley netted the other Rambler goal and also had three assists. Other assists came courtesy of Derek Smith with two and Zach Carson with two, while Trevor Steen and Jordan Escott each had single helpers.
"We worked towards this all year," Crocker said. "We keep talking how it's a 58 game process to the playoffs and we accomplished a lot of things, as we did in the regular season."
Despite the sweep Crocker said the Wolverines were a tough team.
"Halifax is a very good hockey team and we have all the respect for them in the world," Crocker said. " I thought our speed was a factor in the series. I thought we out-hustled them. We are very happy as an organization to move on."
With the Wolverines out of the way the Ramblers now get a chance to reel in some big fish when they take on the best team in the MJAHL; the Yarmouth Mariners.
"Obviously we have to change our game plan a little bit," Crocker said. "But we'll take tomorrow off and rest and get back to practice on Thursday."
The Ramblers first game will be in Yarmouth on Saturday night.
