NEW GLASGOW - The Amherst Ramblers travelled to Weeks Crushers country last night hoping to tie the Crushers for third place in the Bent Division.

Instead they fell further behind their division rivals, coming home from Pictou County with a 6-1 loss.

Ramblers coach Corey Crocker wasn't very pleased with the Ramblers performance.

"I have only two comments about the game tonight," said Crocker. "We took an old-fashioned ass-kicking and we'll be better Saturday night."

The first period was all Crushers when they scored two unanswered goals, one of which was a Ryan Stoddard goal 55 seconds into the game.

Jevin MacLellan scored the second Weeks Crushers goal.

The Ramblers Adam Chipman responded at 3:27 into the second period with a power play goal. That cut the lead in half.

Assists on the goal came from Travis Turner and Jordan Escott.

That was all she wrote for the Ramblers on the evening.

Scoring the four remaining goals for the Crushers was Scott McManaman, Cody Roach, Geoff Hum and Donnie Grant.

Ramblers goaltender Andrew Flemming made 32 stops on 38 shots while Weeks Crushers goaltender Alexandre Quessy made 14 stops on 15 shots.

Ramblers fans can get their hockey fix on Saturday night when the Woodstock Slammers come to Amherst, then on Sunday the Ramblers travel to Truro to do battle with the Bearcats.
