Springhill - SPRINGHILL: The Cumberland County Cool Blues winning ways took a detour into the loss column last weekend as the East Hants Penguins and the Windsor Royals defeated them by scores of 6-5 and 7-2 respectively.
"It shows that it's a very tight league," Cool Blue coach Ron Reynolds said. "We have to be ready for every game. I think the boys realize that now."
Another factor in the two losses was the suspension of Cool Blues Captain Hughie McCuish.
"Hughie is one of our top guys," Reynolds added. "We're looking forward to having him back in the lineup."
On Sunday afternoon it was Cody Roach and Mark Rozak who were the goal scorers in the Blues 7-2 loss to the Royals, with Seth Crowe, Cody Firth, Ryan Smith and Murray Bavis getting the assists.
In that game the Blues played against former teammates Mark Crossman and Chris Fearneley.
"They played well," Reynolds said. "They're very competitive hockey players."
Scoring for the Blues on Friday night in the 6-5 shootout loss to the Penguins was Cody Roach, Ryan Kay, Andrew Brennan, Ryan Smith and Mark Rozak. Colin Feehan had three assists with Murray Bavis and Julian Rousselle having single assists.
The Cool Blues will practice on Wednesday night then they're back into action on Friday night when they host the Strait Pirates at the Richard Calder Arena.
"Last time they were here they played a different kind of hockey," Reynolds said in reference to a 6-1 win over the Pirates on Jan. 20. "Hopefully this time they'll play a little better."
Reynolds also said he is hoping for a large and boisterous crowd.
After they're game on Friday against the Pirates, the Blues travel to Antigonish on Sunday to take on the Bulldogs, then they return home next Friday to face off against the Pictou County Scotians.
