SPRINGHILL - It's out of the frying pan and into the fire for the Cumberland County Cool Blues as they will continue to have their metal tested over the weekend.
Last week they vanquished both the East Hants Penguins and the Strait Pirates and, starting tonight, they face tough opponents in both the Penguins and the Windsor Royals.
"They are two of the top teams in the league so, no question, these are two big games for us," said Cool Blues coach Ron Reynolds, "I'm looking forward to these games because we want to be ready for the playoff and games like these will get us ready."
Reynolds says the games also offer a great opportunity to judge the Cool Blues.
"A lot of people are going to judge us on what we do this weekend," said Reynolds. "And, as the coach, I'll be able to judge the team as well."
Reynolds said the Blues will need to bring their A game to the rink for both games.
"If the boys aren't ready, we won't win against these teams," said Reynolds.
With the Penguins coming to Springhill there is no doubt Cool Blues fans will be ready and pumped up to the maximum.
"It will be a great game to come and watch, so I'm looking for a big crowd to come and cheer us on," said Reynolds. "Like I said, we have the best fans in the league."
Having the best fan following in the league often means having a great following away from home. Reynolds said he wouldn't be surprised to see 100 or 200 fans making the trip to Windsor on Sunday afternoon.
The Blues will play against two former teammates in Windsor.
"We'll play against Chris Fearneley and Mark Crossman," said Reynolds. "Mark is going to Acadia University and Chris went to the Royals from Summerside Jr. A."
"It will be nice as a coach to see them and chat with them and go out and play the game and have some fun," said Reynolds. "They're both great hockey players."
Face off time against the Penguins is tonight at 7:30 p.m. and they will drop the puck in Windsor at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Fans of the big C, Hughie McCuish, will have to wait a while to see their main man in motion.
He is serving a two-game suspension for fighting against the Strait Pirates. He will return to the ice when the Pirates return to Springhill on Friday, Feb. 1.
