AMHERST After what has been described as a lacklustre performance on Wednesday night in Miramichi, Ramblers coach Corey Crocker hopes his young players step up their game on Saturday night against the Antigonish Bulldogs.

What we need is the young players to challenge the veterans, Crocker said. Theyve been here four months, theyve played 35 games, their not rookies any more. Theyve had a lot of experience and its time to step it up.

Crocker says Antigonish plays a never say die, crash and bang style of hockey that has given the Ramblers problems in the past.

The?Bulldogs have played the Ramblers tough this season and while Amherst has won every game they have been tight one-goal games.

Every game we played against the Bulldogs we only beat them by one goal, Crocker said. Although they are down in the standings, they work extremely hard every night.

Crocker emphasizes sticking to their game plan.

On Saturday we basically have to expose their defence with our speed, said Crocker. While still playing a defensive style of hockey.

Crocker describes the game in Miramichi as one where his team let the opportunity for a big win slip through their hands.

The only bright spot in our line up last night was our goaltending from Patrick OBrien, he was exceptional. He gave the boys an opportunity, said Crocker. And Miramichi didnt play that well either, so the opportunity to win was there, especially with the great goaltending.

But the energy just wasnt there, added Crocker. Sometimes you get that with a young team.

After playing Antigonish on Saturday, the Ramblers being a four-game week with stops in Campbellton on Tuesday,?Charlottetown on Thursday and Antigonish on Friday before returning home to face Restigouche next Saturday.
