Amherst squad unfazed by 1-3 record versus Pictou County Junior A team

AMHERST - After almost three weeks of waiting, Rambler fans finally had their hockey fix satisfied on Saturday night as the Ramblers downed the Charlottetown Abbies by a score of 4-1 at Amherst Stadium.
And tonight, only three days later, Ramblers fans can continue to cheer for their favorite team as they face off against the division rival Pictou County Weeks Crushers at Amherst Stadium.
"I think fans are going to see a real hard-hitting game," said Ramblers coach Corey Crocker. "I think you'll see a much more experienced team against a younger team, but basically it will be hard-hitting."
Crocker said the Crushers have recently added veteran leadership to their squad but that the Ramblers have youth on their side.
"We have a good work ethic and if the boys execute well and stick to the game plan we'll do OK," added Crocker.
Crocker said his team will scratch and claw to keep the shots against to a minimum but he is hoping the Ramblers will be able to get more shots across the goal line.
"It's not like we're not getting the quality chances," said Crocker. "But when we get the opportunity to score I'd obviously like to see a few more pucks in the back of the net."
With that said, Crocker says he was very pleased with the Ramblers performance against the Abbies.
"The first game back I thought we executed our game plan the way we wanted," said Crocker. "You never know what you're going to get your first game back from the Christmas holidays but I thought the boys battled hard and they did very well for their first game back."
With the victory in their pocket, Crocker says, "We're looking to get better each game and to keep practicing and build on our success."
The last time the Ramblers played against Pictou was on Nov. 10 at Amherst Stadium. The Ramblers won by a score of 3-1.
On Wednesday the Ramblers travel to Miramichi to take on the Timberwolves, then they return home on Saturday to face off against the Antigonish Bulldogs.
