Host Miramichi on Tuesday night
AMHERST - The Amherst Ramblers went winless and goalless in dropping a pair of MJAHL games over the weekend.
After dropping a 6-0 decision to the Yarmouth Mariners on Friday in southwest Nova, the Ramblers lost 3-0 in Truro on Sunday.
Saturday's game against the Charlottetown Abbies was cancelled because weather conditions prevented the Abbies from getting across the Confederation Bridge.
"It was a much better effort than Friday's game. The boys worked extremely hard and battled hard throughout. Truro got a power play goal, a shorthanded goal and an empty-net goal," Rambler coach Corey Crocker said. "It wasn't from a lack of effort."
Chris Ivanko scored twice for the Bearcats with KC Brown scoring the other Truro goal.
On Friday, Justin Saulnier had two goals and an assist for the Mariners while Mike Best and Scott Sack each had a goal and an assist. Danny Anger and Ryan Penney each scored once.
Jocelyn Morrissette earned the shutout.
"Games like that are going to happen with a young hockey team," Crocker said of Friday's game. "They were on the bus for six hours and then fell behind early. A bounce here and there and they couldn't come back."
The Ramblers return to action on Tuesday when they host the Miramichi Timberwolves at 7:30 p.m. at the Amherst Stadium.
