Bearcats find a way to beat Ramblers

AMHERST - The Truro Bearcats finally found a way to defeat the Amherst Ramblers.

The Bearcats scored two goals in the second period, including one with less than a second to go, to defeat the Ramblers 3-1 in Maritime Junior A Hockey League action at the stadium last night.

I thought we played a pretty good game, it was probably one of the better games weve had all year, Rambler coach Corey Crocker said following the game.

It was Truros first win over Amherst in four tries this season.

I thought it was the game we battled the hardest against them. Bounces went their way, not ours and they scored two more goals than we did, Crocker said.

Dana Fraser and Cody Roland each scored in the second period for the Bearcats to add on the first period goal scored by Sam Hounsell. Goalie Pierre Alexander Marion had two assists for the Bearcats while Roland, Ryan Neaves and Justin Russell each had single helpers.

Andrew Oakley scored for the Ramblers with 2:34 to play in the game with Matt Squires and Brent Lynch adding assists.

Amherst outshot the Bearcats 53-45.

The Ramblers return to action on Saturday night when they host the Yarmouth Mariners at the stadium. On Sunday, they travel to Moncton to face the Beavers at the Tim Hortons 4Ice Centre.
