Rookie netminder Crowe stops 23 shots for win
SPRINGHILL The Cumberland County Blues extended the undefeated start to the 2007/2008 season tonight to 4-0 dowing the visiting Pictou County Scotians 7-3.
The first two periods saw the Blues power play units fire on all cylinders as they scored four power play goals.
Andrew Brennan started things off for the Blues at 6:33 with a goal, Seth Crowe and Colin Feehan assisting.
Then Cody Roach struck with another Blues power play goal at 14:02, Brennan and Feehan assisting.
As the period was winding down, at 18:56, Neil Pashkoski struck for the Scotians, Andrew Kirkendall assisting.
Gus Smith came through with a goal for the Scotians at 8:24 of the second period to tie the game at 2-2. Derek MacLean and Stephen MacRae assisted on this effort.
Roach netted his second goal of the game, on a power play, at 10:59 to re-establish the Blues lead.
Feehan and Brennan assisted.
As the period was winding down, Brennan netted his second goal of the game on a power play at 18:15. Ryan Smith and Roach assisted on this effort.
The teams headed into the third period with the Blues holding a 4-2 lead.
Robbie Craig scored at 2:55 to close the gap for the Scotians, to 4-3, with Jake Ryan earning the assist.
But this is as far as the Scotians were going to be able to go.
Justin Cortes added an insurance marker at 12:28, Shane OByrne and David Burke assisting.
Then Cortes struck again at 15:18. Brennan and Smith assisted on this goal.
At 18:23, Burke scored the final goal of the game with Mark Rozak assisting.
Landon Crowe earned the win for the Blues as he turned aside 23 shots. Kody Cuvelier took the loss for the Scotians while stopping 26 shots.
