Fundy Hockey School underway

AMHERST (Staff) - Darren Nixon and a solid group of instructors working to teach children of various ages the fundamentals of hockey.

Jamie Matthews, a former second round draft pick of the Chicago Blackhawks has taken over organizing the school and players from Novice through to Midget and female players alike, are all working on their skills to get ready for the 2007-08 season.

Nixon and a group of instructors were on the ice at the Fundy Hockey School on Wednesday, working with local novice youth on the fundamentals of hockey.

The school, which has been operating for more than a quarter century, is used as a preseason training ground to get players ready for their upcoming season and beyond.
