Allan Dwyer, a former captain of the St. Francis Xavier X-men hockey team, was added to the Antigonish Jr. B Bulldogs coaching staff as an assistant coach.
ANTIGONISH (Staff) - Allan Dwyer, a former captain of the St. Francis Xavier X-men hockey team, was added to the Antigonish Jr. B Bulldogs coaching staff as an assistant coach.
In addition, Mike MacIsaac will join Dwyer as assistant coaches.
Dwyer, the son of Ruth and Ted Dwyer of Maccan, brings some extensive experience as a player together with coaching background to the bench.
He played his midget hockey with the Pictou County Weeks Major Midgets of the NSMMHL during the 1996/1997 season.
From there, Allan moved his hockey career to Jr. A with the Amherst Ramblers, of the MJAHL. He played with the Ramblers from 1998/1999 to 2000/2001 season before a trade to the Truro Bearcats where he was named team captain in his final season.
Following his junior hockey, he moved to the university level playing with the St. Francis Xavier X-Men of the AUS.
His coaching side of the game began in 2004/2005 when he helped coach the Antigonish Peewee AAA Bulldogs. For the 2005/2006 season, he was on the bench with the Antigonish Bantam AAA Bulldogs
MacIsaac brings experience as a play and a coach to the club. As a player he was a former player with the Bulldogs from 1998/1999 to 2002/2003 seasons. During his final season with the Bulldogs, he was the team captain. He had progressed to the Bulldogs after completing his minor hockey in the Antigonish system.
His coaching background came through the Antigonish Minor Hockey system where he coached with the Peewee AAA and Bantam AAA Bulldogs teams. In 2006, Mike was an assistant coach of the Nova Scotia under 15 squad and then in 2007, the Nova Scotia under 14 team.
