SPRINGHILL - Cody Roach's third goal of the game on a wild goalmouth scramble lifted the Cumberland County Cool Blues into a 3-2 win over the Kensington Vipers in semifinal action at the Don Johnson Cup in Springhill.
The win gives the Blues a berth in the Atlantic final at 2 p.m. Sunday against either the East Hants Penguins or the Central Junior Cataracts.
Roach's goal came just two minutes after he tied the score on another scramble. Jordan Bragg and Seth Crowe added assists for the Blues on the goal.
Cody Firth added an assist for the Blues on the tying goal.
Andrew Penney's goal with five minutes to go in the second period gave the Vipers a 2-1 lead.
Morgan Cooke has the other goal for Kensington.
Roach scored on the power play in the first period for the Blues.
Joel Stronge and Hughie McGuish added assists on the goal.
The Blues are without captain Joel Stronge who was injured in a check from behind early in the second period. Vipers' forward Marc Halbot was assessed a major and a game misconduct for the hit.
They also lost assistant captain Ryan Reynolds, who was assessed a match penalty midway through the final period after the apparent tying goal was disallowed because referee Jason Haynes ruled it was directed in with a skate.
