An extra hole was needed for Taylor Smith to defend his men's club championship at the Elmwood Golf and Country Club on July 30 and 31.
Smith scored a playoff hole victory over Keith Miyashiro to claim the 2011 men's champion last Sunday. Smith held a three stroke lead after the opening round with a 72 and fired a 74 on day two for a 146. Miyashiro shot a 71 on the second day to card a two-day 146 and force the playoff. Tim Tisdale was the first low net winner in the men's championship flight with a 139.
Denise Wilson retained her women's club title after firing rounds of 75 and 77 to outdistance the field in the women's championship flight with a two-day 152. Donna James took first low net honours with a 138, with Cherie Zyloway taking the second low net with a 144.
The Junior Championship title was retained by Cody Schapansky who shot rounds of 74 and 73 to card a two-day 147. Kyle Millar was seven shots back with a two-day 154. Kyle Tisdale was the first low net winner with a 118, and Dylan Rossiter took the second low net with a 124.
Kathy Hopfner successfully defended her title by shooting a second day 79 to finish at 160 and run away with the senior women's championship flight. Sandy Leier was the first low net champion at 142, finishing just ahead of Adele Manz who was the second low net winner at 145.
Greg Brososky was crowned the senior men's champion after shooting identical rounds of 76 for a two-day total of 152 to score a four stroke win over Russ Campbell who shot rounds of 83 and 73 for a 156. Frank Urquhart was the first low net winner with a 142, and Campbell also placed as runner-up with a 144 net score.
Senior 2nd Flight
Dale Blake enjoyed rounds of 79 and 81 to win the senior second flight with a two-day 160 and beat the rest of the field by eight shots. Al Lightfoot was the first low net winner with a 146, and Carl Pilat was the second net finisher one stroke back with a net score of 147.
Senior 3rd Flight
George Crowthers had rounds of 80 and 81 to win the flight's low gross title with a 161. Gord Meadows took the first low net award for a 137 net finish, with Glen Lindstrom was second low net finisher at 145.
