Five Southwest golfers took part in the 2010 SGI Canada Saskatchewan Junior Men's and Womenâ€™s Championship at the Cooke Municipal Golf Course in Prince Albert last week.
The top local results came from Herbertâ€™s Kaitlyn Jahnke who placed fourth with a four-round total of 327 after a 76 on day four.
Jahnke was fourth heading into the final round. She fired rounds of 86, 88, and 77 to open the tournament. Saskatoonâ€™s Anna Young was first at 13 over par in 305 strokes (81-77-74-73) for a nine stroke win over fellow Riverside Golf and Country Club golfer Thea Hedemann.
Maple Creekâ€™s Taras Burton was the top finisher on the boyâ€™s side. Burton, who golfs out of the Maple Creek Golf Club, placed 21st in 316 strokes.
He opened the tournament with an 82, followed by an 81 and a 74 on day three to sit tied for 18th heading into the final round before a 79 on day four.
Jordan Arndt, golfing out of the Saskatoon Golf and Country Club, won the tournament with a one under par 283 (69-75-70-69) to beat out Jesse Gibson by two shots (72-71-73-69=285).
Swift Currentâ€™s Jessy-Lee Lacher, golfing out of the Elmwood Golf and Country Club, narrowly missed the cut by only two strokes with a three-round score of 249. Lacher opened with an 83 on day one. He responded on day two with a 78 and shot an 88 on day three to miss the 247 cut at 36 over par.
Shaunavonâ€™s Corey Bailey, golfing out of the Rock Creek Golf Club, also missed the cut with a three-round total of 259. Bailey opened his tournament with an 89, followed by a pair of 85â€™s on days two and three to finish 46 over par.
Swift Currentâ€™s Logan Tisdale, who golf out of the Elmwood, missed the cut with a three-round total of 286. Tisdale opened with a 97 in his first round, before improving to 92 on day two. He finished off with a 97 to finish 73 over par.
