The Maple Leaf Junior Tour Finora Classic will take place June 12-13 at the Elmwood Golf Course. The elite junior golf tournament is one of four stops for the MJT Tour in Saskatchewan, the first stop is this weekend in North Battleford.
Cost of the 36-hole event in Swift Current is $125 for MJT members and $150 for non-members.
Elmwood head professional Jeff Chambers runs the Saskatchewan stops on the MJT Tour.
"The Maple Leaf Junior Tour isn't just for members, it is open to anyone who wants to experience it and we want people to experience it. They get here and they will see some of the best players we have in the province."
The tournament will tee off next Saturday at 12 noon and Sunday at 10 a.m.
"We do so many prizes for everybody and it is a first class event so it is neat to see that," said Chambers.
Golfers can also qualify for national events at MJT Tour events. Last year Herbert's Kaitlyn Jahnke went to Australia as a qualifier in MJT Tour events.
The boys tournament will have a 13 and under division, a 14-16 division, and a 17 and up division, while the girls all play in one division.
"Kaitlyn Jahnke definitely has a chance in the girls division. She is coming on strong. We have worked on a few things on the range and from what I have seen this year already I really think she is going to be a force to compete against this year," said Chambers.
A few young golfers such as Cody Schapansky, Jessy-Lee Lacher, Tyson Empey, and Taylor Kinch could also be in the field and do well in their respective age groups.
Nathan Corrin, 13, is another golfer to watch said Chambers. Corrin, who hails from Moose Jaw, has a membership at the Elmwood to work with Chambers. He has been playing MJT since nine years of age. "He just lives to golf," said Chambers.

Kids from the Southwest also can participate in the Best Western & ACT/UCT Junior Open on June 26th and 27th being held at Elmwood Golf & Country Club. This event is open to anyone from 10 years of age to 18. Cost is $40 for members and $70 for non-members.
