Despite firing the low round during the second day of tournament play, the Swift Current tandem of Kathy Hopfner and Brent Wotypka placed as the runners-up at the Saskatchewan Mixed Team Championship at the Harbour Golf Club and Resort.

Despite firing the low round during the second day of tournament play, the Swift Current tandem of Kathy Hopfner and Brent Wotypka placed as the runners-up at the Saskatchewan Mixed Team Championship at the Harbour Golf Club and Resort.
Hopfner and Wotypka combined for a Sunday low round of 68 to finish the two-day event with a 137. However their round totals of 69-68 were not low enough to catch up to the tandem of Kathy Ziglo and Rick Ector who carded an opening round 62 and cruised to a five-shot victory with a 132.
Hopfner and Wotypka, representing the Elmwood Golf and Country Club, shot par on the 18th hole on their final round to edge out the defending champion tandem of Deanna Klusa and Robert Cook from North Battleford who placed third with a 137.
Linda Toews and Merv Toews from Morse tied for 11th with a 152 point total after rounds of 74 and 78.
A total of 44 teams were entered in the two-day modified Scotch competition.
