Day one co-leader Bobby Sanchez from Lafleche fired a four-over-par 76 on Friday to finish eighth at the Saskatchewan Amateur Men's Golf Championship in Lloydminster.

Day one co-leader Bobby Sanchez from Lafleche fired a four-over-par 76 on Friday to finish eighth at the Saskatchewan Amateur Men's Golf Championship in Lloydminster.

Sanchez opened the tournament with a blistering three-under-par 69, shot a  four-over-par 76 on day two, and shot a seven-over par 79 on Thursday.

St. Walburg's Scott Thompson finished first at one-over-par (72-74-69-74=289), three strokes ahead of Lloydminster's Jim Born to capture the event.

Swift Current's Taylor Smith was the only other Southwest golfer to make the cut and had his best round of the tournament on Friday, a two-over-par 74 to finish 25th in 23 strokes over par (82-80-75-74=311).

Southwest competitors who did not advance to the final day were Brennan Rumancik of Maple Creek at 26 over, and Swift Current's Kory Blake McMillan who finished at 29 over.
