AMHERST - Previously cancelled, the Ducks Unlimited Golf Tournament is set for Sept. 16 at the Springhill Centennial Golf club.
"We're looking for 16, six-person teams with all the funds going to support the work of Ducks Unlimited," organizing committee member Cheryl Allen said.
The tournament has been held at the Amherst Golf Club for most of its 24 years, but organizers opted to move the event after failing to come to an agreement with that club over green fees.
While disappointed the tournament has been moved to Springhill, Allen is looking forward to the new surroundings and thanked the Amherst club for its support.
"We're very happy that we managed to get things together in time to hold the tournament this year," Allen said, adding there are no ill feelings toward the Amherst club.
The golf tournament usually raises between $2,000 and $3,000 annually for Ducks Unlimited, which is enough to fund one small marsh project every year.
Along with the tournament, the awards banquet will be held at the Lamp Cabin Beverage Room in Springhill. There will be a silent auction of various items along with the presentation of prizes.
Barnes Insurance is back this year as a major supporter of the event and is sponsoring the hole-in-one prize of $5,000.
