Longtime Chinook Golf Course Head Professional John Gaudet will have a brush with greatness this week as he will get the once in a lifetime opportunity to meet golf's greatest player Tiger Woods.

Gaudet is the only Saskatchewan representative among 60 Canadians invited to take part in an Invitational hosted by Nike Canada and other corporate partners that will reward Nike Golf business partners with an exciting retreat at Fox Harb'r Resort in Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia.

Wednesday Gaudet was set to fly out of Regina for Toronto, before flying today to Moncton and then bussing into Tatamagouche and the five-star golf resort of Tim Horton's co-founder Ron Joyce.

Among the events that Gaudet will participate in will be two small tournaments as well as have supper with Woods the first night that he arrives.

The next day Woods will play a nine-hole match with the corporate sponsors as the invited guests walk along the course with Woods.

"I am a Nike fan to start with, that is the first thing, and of course Tiger is the best golfer in the world, at least we think he is," said Gaudet.

"They (Nike) consider us as partners and this is saying thank you. It was totally unexpected, but what a nice thing, a once in a lifetime opportunity."

"It is kind of a neat thing. I consider it an honour that they decided to bring me. They could take all of the people from Ontario and it would cost them a heck of a lot less. We do big business with them. We are probably the biggest green grass account in Manitoba or Saskatchewan for them. We sell a lot of Nike here. Nike has a very good product and it has been good for us."

Gaudet found out the news via email while on holidays for two weeks in the Maritimes.

"The guy from Nike told me yesterday 'John sit back, close your eyes, and enjoy the ride because it is going to be incredible.'"

"When in my lifetime am I ever going to meet Tiger Woods? I might see him, but I would never meet him or never talk to him, or get a picture with him."

"We get a chance to see him warm up and to me that is maybe even better than watching him play because that is where they try everything," said Gaudet who is in his 44th year as a golf pro.
