Golf Classic turns a perfect 10

Monday marked a perfect 10 for the McCleary Marleau Moen Foundation's annual Charity Golf Classic.

A capacity field of 180 golfers were out at the Elmwood Golf Course to support the McCleary Marleau Moen Sports and Recreation Foundation through their participation in the 10th annual Boston Pizza Charity Golf Classic.

Trent McCleary was excited to see the decade anniversary tournament begin, and was pleased to see the continued support behind the charity event.

"Believe me there's been lots of help for the 10 years, but we've been fortunate to have a lot of really good core sponsors that every have came back to the plate and have sponsored us and come out and enjoyed a great day of golf," McCleary explained.

The Foundation has expanded their mandate over the past years, and one of the ways they are branching out is helping fund the Boys On The Move program offered through the City of Swift Current.

"We're following the needs. For the individual athletes, is there a need - yes. But all of a sudden there's a need for program development in this community too. So that's where the City of Swift Current has helped out too. They're creating the programs and we're helping to fund them, so it's been a very good relationship that way. And, again, we're filling a need. That's what we're here for. That's why we have 180 golfers out and 180 people are supporting the needs of Swift Current."
