High school golfers advance to provincials

Morse was the site of the sand golf championships and were dominated by Frontier entries. Frontier's Hailey Coakley topped the girl's standings with a scored of 75, four shots ahead of teammate Lindsey Anderson. Morse's Montana Gammel placed third in 84 strokes.

Brady Berg of Frontier fired a 63 to top the boy's competition, two shots ahead of teammate Dustin Onerheim. Frontier's Rhett Kirk and Morse's Lee Smith tied for third with a 70.

The top three boy's and girl's finishers as well as the Frontier and Morse teams, coached by Gail Balfour and Mike Francis respectively, will be attending provincials in Frontier on Friday and Saturday.

At the grass green championships at the Elmwood Golf Course in Swift Current Kaitlyn Jahnke topped the 10-player field with a round of 82, two shots ahead of Swift Current's Kaitlin Blackmer. Swift Current's Katie Avram also qualified for provincials with a third-place finish.

Swift Current's Kory McMillan topped 37 other male golfers with a round of 74, one shot ahead of teammate Mickey Wallace and three shots ahead of teammate Cody Schapansky.

The Swift Current Comp. team, coached by Russ Siemens, qualified for provincials in Saskatoon with a first place score of 298, trailed by Maple Creek with 363 points, and Herbert with 383.
