Parrsboros Hurley wins low net honours

Jean E. Boudreau birdied one hold and parred seven others en route to a two-stroke win over Truro's Jenny Brine to claim the Amherst Ladies Golf Invitational here Wednesday.

Boudreau played consistent golf down the back nine at the Amherst Golf and Country Club to reclaim a championship she won several years ago.

Jean E. Boudreau birdied one hold and parred seven others en route to a two-stroke win over Truro's Jenny Brine to claim the Amherst Ladies Golf Invitational here Wednesday.

Boudreau played consistent golf down the back nine at the Amherst Golf and Country Club to reclaim a championship she won several years ago.

"I had a good round of golf. I just tried to keep it simple and consistent," Boudreau said. "I wanted to get as many pars and birdies as I could while avoiding any bogies."

Parrsboro's Shirley Hurley won over all low net honours with a 78.

Brine won low gross honours in the first division with an 81 while Fay Gunter of Brightwood was second, former champion Phyllis Longobardi of Dartmouth was third and Helen Castonguay, also of Dartmouth, was fourth.

Marie Ann Legere of Country Meadows took home top low gross honours in the second division with a 98 while Amherst's Fran Morley was second, Marion Brine of Truro was third and Marilyn Mitchell of Amherst placed fourth.

In the third division, Lelia Belliveau of Memramcook was low gross honours with a 109 over Parrsboro's Joan Quinn, who placed second. Barbara Pyle of Brookfield was third and Northumberland's Sandy Neild was fourth.

Low net honours in the first division went to Doreen Vienneau of Pine Needles while Rachel Smith of Amherst was second, Sharman Smith of Amherst was third and Ardith Barron of Country Meadows was fourth.

Erla Gouchie of Amherst earned low net honours in the second division with Ethel Douglas of Amherst placing second. Joan Christie of Amherst was third and Pat Robinson of Amherst was fourth.

Susan Faulkner won low net honours in the third division with Debbie McCully of Truro placing second, Francine Robichaud of Amherst placing third and Wendy MacLeod of Amherst finishing in fourth spot.
