Wildcats sophomore head coach Terry Pavely was happy to pick up the two wins but also noticed room for improvement.

"The biggest thing that we noticed is that the defensive zone is going to be an area that we are going to have to work on and that is not just the defensemen. The forwards and the defense are going to have to spend some time before the regular season really tightening up and making sure everybody knows what their job is and the importance that we are going to put on taking care of our own end."

Sunday's contest was slowed to a crawl with 30 minor penalties.

"I thought that we killed the penalties well and we haven't done any penalty killing stuff," said Pavely. "I thought our kids worked hard and did the basics, stops and starts, didn't over commit, so they did a good job. On the powerplay we didn't give them a breakout until this morning so we knew it was going to be a little bit scrambly. The biggest thing was that we felt that with all of the penalties we didn't adjust to what the ref was calling and you have to change your game based on what the ref is doing and we didn't do that right away so that is a good learning experience."

The Wildcats will continue their exhibition schedule at the September Showcase in Dalmeny with games against Battlefords and Weyburn this weekend.

The Wildcats will begin the SFMAAAHL regular season on Oct. 11 and 12th when they play host to the Battlefords Sharks.
