St. Mary's triumphs 61-14

SACKVILLE (Staff) _ High winds couldnt stop the ship being sailed by St. Marys Huskies running back Jacques Lumbala.
He rushed 19 times for 251 yards and four touchdowns as the Huskies spoiled the home opener for the Mount Allison Mounties by a 61-14 margin.
Through the first quarter, the two teams were evenly matched, playing to a 14-14 tie at the beginning of the second quarter. However, the last three quarters saw the Huskies break through the Mounties' defense to score 47 unanswered points.
The Huskies chalked up 32 first downs compared to Mount Allison's 16, and ran up 441 yards rushing compared to the Mounties' 162. Total net yards was 558 for SMU and 256 for Mount A.
Mounties returning All-Canadian middle linebacker Matt Harding was the bright spot defensively as he led both team in tackles with seven.
Next week at Homecoming, the Mounties (0-2) will host Saint Francis Xavier, while St. Mary's (2-0) will host Concordia (2-0) in an interlocking game at Huskie Stadium.
