The only Southwest rink at the 2014 SaskTel Tankard Provincial Men's Championship saw their tournament come to an end Saturday in Shaunavon.
The Max Kirkpatrick rink, curling out of the Swift Current Curling Club, lost 10-6 to Langenburg's Jeff Hartung to drop out of the 16-team triple elimination tournament.
Hartung scored two in the first end and then stole two in the second for a 4-0 lead. Kirkpatrick replied with three in the third to cut the deficit to one point but Hartung added deuces in the fourth and sixth ends to lead 8-5 after six ends on his way to the win.
The Swift Current rink had lost two straight games to open the tournament before winning two games in the C Event.
The playoffs begin Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Crescent Point Wickenheiser Centre. The semi-finals will played Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and the championship game is slated for 2 p.m.
