The top 16 men’s curling teams in Saskatchewan are in Shaunavon this week for the 2014 SaskTel Tankard Provincial Men’s Championship.
The Provincial Tankard utilizes a 16-team self-seeded triple knockout draw with Page playoff at the Crescent Point Wickenheiser Centre.
The tournament begins today with Draw 1 at 3 p.m. followed immediately by the Opening Ceremonies and then Draw 2 at 7 p.m.
Thursday will feature games beginning at 8:30 a.m., 12 p.m., 3 p.m., and 7 p.m.
Friday will have draws at 8 a.m., 12 p.m., 4 p.m., and 8 p.m. Saturday will begin with Draw 10 at 9 a.m., followed by draws at 2 p.m. and the playoffs beginning at 7 p.m.
Sunday will begin with the semi-finals at 9:30 a.m. and the final at 2 p.m.
Swift Current’s Max Kirkpatrick skips the only Southwest team at the Tankard. The Swift Current rink will open the A Event on Wednesday afternoon against Saskatoon’s Nutana’s Bruce Korte. Kirkpatrick is joined by third Shaun Meachem, second Jeff Chambers, lead Shawn Hiebert, and coach Ron Meyers.
Event Passes are $80, a Dailey Pass is $20, and the Last Draw of Day is $10. Those 18 and under will be admitted free.
Among the festivities is I love Shaunavon Day today. Friday will feature Lounge Entertainment from Ken Carson & the Unforgettables in the Greenslade Lounge. Anyone with admission tickets to Friday’s last draw (Draw 9) will be admitted free, all others will be charged $10.
