Bruce Korte, the current leader of the Saskatchewan Curling Tour, headlines the list of rinks converging on Swift Current this weekend for the Saskatchewan Curling Tour Men’s Cash Spiel at the Swift Current Curling Club on Nov. 2 to 4.
Korte, the 2000, 2004 and 2010 Saskatchewan Men’s Champion, is currently tops in the SCT with 20 points, a single point ahead of Kevin Marsh who is in second place.
A number of Saskatchewan's top men's curling teams will be converging on the Swift Current Curling Club this weekend for a highlight bonspiel on the Saskatchewan Curling Tour.
The Swift Current Men's Cash Spiel runs on Nov. 2 to 4., with the event one of the eight bonspiels on the Saskatchewan Curling Tour.
There is a strong field scheduled to play in Swift Current's event, with one world, three Canadian, and six Saskatchewan championship skips with members of their teams that have played at the provincial and national levels. The teams include:
- Randy Woytowich (1991 and 1993 Saskatchewan Men’s Champion, 1974 Saskatchewan Junior Men’s Champion and 1984 Canadian Mixed Champion);
- Brad Heidt (1982 and 1995 Saskatchewan Men’s Champion, 2010 and 2011 Saskatchewan Senior Men’s Champion and 2007 Saskatchewan Mixed Champion);
Darrell McKee (2000 and 2010 Saskatchewan Men’s Champion),
Justin Mihalicz (2005 Saskatchewan Junior Men’s Champion);
Darren Camm (2010 Canadian Club Champion).
Swift Current will be well represented by Chris Haichert (2005 and 2006 Saskatchewan Men’s Champion, 2003 Junior Men’s World Champion and 2011 Saskatchewan Firefighter Champion) and Max Kirkpatrick (multiple Saskatchewan Men’s Provincial Championships competitor).
Play will begin on Friday at 3 p.m. and the Championship Event will be on the ice on Sunday with semi-final games at noon and the Championship game to follow at 3 p.m.
