AMHERST – A successfully-run basketball tournament for ARHS, but a disappointing result for the JV Vikettes. They were defeated in Saturday’s bronze medal match by Memorial, 61-60.

The ARHS JV Vikettes Junior Varsity Invitational saw six teams vie for dominance over two days of competition. Amherst won its first game, held Friday, against Parkview, with a decisive 59-37 final score. But Saturday got away from the local team.

In a 9 a.m. game against C.P. Allen, Amherst lost 48-34. The bronze medal match began at 2:45, resulting in a fourth place finish for the Vikettes.

The Vikette MVPs for the three games were Lauren Chitty, Jessica Wilson and Gina Grattan. The tournament MVP for the team was Andrea Comeau.
