Swift Current Indians
The Swift Current Indians will resume the Western Major Baseball League playoffs Tuesday when they host the Melville Millionaires in game one of the second-round best-of-five series.
Game two is slated for Wednesday at Mitchell Field. Both games will begin at 7:05 p.m.
The Indians are coming off a three-game sweep of the Weyburn Beavers to open the playoffs. Melville dropped their playoff opener, before winning the next three games to eliminate the defending champion Regina Red Sox.
The Indians edged Melville by one game in the regular season to earn home field advantage in the East with a 29-17 record.
The Indians pitching staff was second in the regular season with a 3.23 earned run average and held the opposition to a .243 batting average. They have been even better in the playoffs with a league leading 1.24 ERA while holding Weyburn to a .222 average.
Melville has been a better offensive team with a .288 average in the regular season and improved in the playoffs to a .326 mark against Regina over four games. Their pitching staff improved its ERA to 2.00 in the playoffs with a .241 batting average.
The Indians won the season series 3-1 with all four games decided by three runs or less.
