The Swift Current PeeWee Indians came agonizingly close to winning their home tournament this past weekend.
They began the weekend with an 18-1 mercy rule shortened win over the Saskatoon Cardinals on Friday evening.
The PeeWee Indians dropped a nail-biter 4-3 to Humboldt on Saturday before rebounding with a 16-2 win over Saskatoon.
They hammered the Bethune Bucs 12-1 in the semi-finals to advance to the championship game.
Swift Current ran into a dominant pitcher in the final as they suffered a 3-1 loss to the Humboldt Dodgers to finish second in the eight-team event.
“We had a good weekend, it was great. We played a couple of pretty decent teams and that is what we are looking for,” said coach Ken Wall after the championship game.
