The Swift Current Indians lost both games of a double header against the host Yorkton Cardinals on Tuesday.The Tribe lost the opener 3-1 and then fell 11-4 in the second half to drop to 18-16 on the season.
Brian Ranta suffered the loss in the opener, allowing three runs and six hits over six inings. Aaron Dunsmore singled in Cam Newell for the only run in the loss, which snapped a four-game winning streak.
The Indians opened the second game with three runs in the top of the first inning, only to allow seven runs in the bottom of the inning.
Indians' starter Myles Ethier was only able to get two outs, allowing three hits, two walks and seven unearned runs. Dunsmore finished with three hits and a run batted in.
Yorkton improved to 11-26 as they remain last in the Western Major Baseball League's East Division.
They will be back at home Wednesday against the visiting Okotoks Dawgs (22-12) at Mitchell Field at 7:05 p.m.
