One night after after losing 14-4 in Saskatoon, the Swift Current Indians responded with an 11-4 win over the Yellow Jackets back in Swift Current.
The win helped the Indians stay atop the Western Major Baseball League Central Division standings by one and a half games over Moose Jaw and three games ahead of Saskatoon. The Indians have now won six of their last seven games.
Larsen Kohler earned the win, allowing five hits and four runs, only one of which was earned. The Alaska native only walked one and struck out seven to improve to 2-2 this season.
Cody Chartrand pitched two scoreless innings to get the save while lowering his earned run average to 0.43 in 11 appearances.
The Indians offense meanwhile, continued to produce, scoring another 11 runs. The Tribe are averaging almost nine runs per game of offense over the past seven games.
Aaron Dunsmore was on base four times, scored three runs, and knocked in a run. Third baseman Alex Mortensen had three hits, walked once, scored four runs, and picked up an RBI. Shortstop Jack Thompson walked twice, singled, scored, and knocked in a pair from the seventh spot in the order.
The Indians will be back at home Wednesday as they host the Edmonton Prospects at 7:05 p.m. at Mitchell Field.
